Gear Safety and Care

Thank You for Choosing TheDawgPack™!

Your pup’s safety matters, and we’re here to help you get the best use out of your gear. Please follow these guidelines to keep your dog safe and ensure long-lasting performance.

General Safety

1. Designed for Dogs – Not a toy. Keep away from children and non-canine pets.

2. Check Before Each Use – Inspect for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. If compromised, discontinue use and replace.

3. Easy Care – Clean with mild soap and water, air dry; avoid chemicals.

4. Important Notice – TheDawgPack cannot guarantee pet behavior or prevent accidents. Safe use depends on proper fit, regular inspections, and responsible handling.

Proper Use

• Fit Matters – Collars and harnesses should be snug yet comfortable (two-finger rule - you should be able to fit two fingers, and no more, in between the gear and body/neck).

• No Tie-Outs – Not designed for tethering or unsupervised restraint.

• Leash Use – For strong pullers, attach the leash to a harness instead of the collar to reduce strain.

Collars

• Adjust properly to prevent slipping while ensuring comfort.

• For strong pullers, attaching the leash to a harness (not collar) is necessary for safety.

• Remove during play with other dogs to prevent entanglement.

• Regularly inspect for signs of wear and replace if needed.

Leashes

• Securely attach to D-rings or clips before use.

• Not designed for tie-outs or leaving dogs tethered alone.

• Regularly inspect for signs of wear and replace if needed.

Harnesses

• Adjust for a secure fit—loose harnesses may allow escape, while tight ones can cause discomfort (two-finger rule - you should be able to fit two fingers, and no more, in between the gear and body).

• Ensure all straps and buckles are secured before leash attachment.

• Remove during unsupervised play to avoid entanglement.

• Regularly inspect for signs of wear and replace if needed.

Avoid These Common Mistakes

• Improper Fit – Gear that is too loose or tight can cause discomfort or risk injury (two-finger rule - you should be able to fit two fingers, and no more, in between the gear and body/neck).

• Unattended Use – Dogs should not be left alone in gear when unsupervised.

• Using Worn Gear – Frayed or damaged gear should be replaced immediately.

Care & Maintenance

• Regular Checkups – Look for wear, loose stitching, or damage before each use.

• Replace as Needed – Retire any gear showing significant wear.

• Gentle Cleaning – Wash with mild soap and water; avoid chemicals that may degrade materials.

• Smart Storage – Keep in a cool, dry place to extend longevity.
